What is an automated safety observation?
An automated safety observation is a behavior-based safety check that runs on a schedule without a supervisor walking the floor with a clipboard. OneTrack samples an eligible operator from live activity data, captures a short clip of real work from cameras you already have, and delivers it to a review queue with your own observation checklist. Supervisors review, score, and coach from the footage.
How does OneTrack decide who gets observed?
OneTrack builds a pool of eligible operators from live activity data (QR sign-ons or WMS work codes) over a lookback window, groups them by supervisor or shift, and samples using rotation-weighted fairness. Anyone observed recently is down-weighted so the same people aren't picked over and over. Selection is random within the pool, seeded per run so results are consistent and auditable.
Do I need new cameras or hardware?
No. Observations capture footage from the OneTrack sensors already on your forklifts. There is no new camera to install, no new app for supervisors, and no new system to learn. Observations appear as their own event queue inside the OneTrack platform you already use.
Can I use my own observation form?
Yes. You build the observation form (seatbelt use, horn at intersections, pedestrian awareness, speed, or any behavior you track) and supervisors score against it with a live preview of the footage. Each program has its own form, schedule, and sampling rules.
How is this different from a traditional behavior-based safety program?
Traditional BBS programs depend on supervisors finding time for clipboard rounds, and they suffer from observer bias, the Hawthorne effect, and inconsistent coverage. OneTrack automates the sampling and the capture, so observations happen on schedule, cover everyone fairly, and are backed by real footage of actual work instead of a checkbox filled out from memory.
